How can we support Women in Tech on their leadership journey?

Join us on Thursday 15th June for our biggest WITBoss event to date where a panel of Women in Tech and allies will be discussing their paths to leadership and how they’ve tackled challenges along the way.

Introducing our panellists:

Vicky Otley – Business Analyst and Co-Director at Optimo

Vicky is an ED&I enthusiast and has made it her mission to ensure businesses put equality, diversity and inclusion at the forefront of their employee lifecycle. A previous squad leader at BJSS and Lead Business Analyst at FluidIT Consulting, Vicky is now a Business Analyst and Co-Director at Optimo, consulting clients on how to maximise their positive global impact.

Tim Pepper – Engineering Lead, Squad Lead and D&I Champion at BJSS

Tim is heavily invested in the career progression of women in his team and a dedicated ally of Women in Tech. He is part of the ‘TechUPWomen’ programme which retrains women from underserved communities into tech careers. Previously a software developer at TPP for almost 6 years, Tim has been at BJSS for 5 years, first as a Software Engineer, then in Engineering and now a Squad Lead.

Sarah Baker – Head of Technology at Sky

Sarah has progressed from Scrum Master to Head of Technology during 8 years at Sky and has completed Sky’s ‘Women in Leadership’ course which aims to remove barriers to female progression. Previously Sarah has worked for Sky Bet, William Hill and the NHS in various Testing and Business Analysis roles.

Kelly Weston – COO at The Data City

In addition to holding the role of COO at The Data City, Kelly is also Head of People at Calls9, and Founder/Consultant at Makes itHappen, a consultancy that provides solutions for senior leadership to drive profitability and happiness of teams.

Emma Ledger – Senior Product Manager at BBC

Emma is an advocate for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion programmes and champions Learning and Development initiatives within the workplace. As a registered STEM Ambassador, Emma mentors women and young people in technology and is also an official facilitator for #IamRemarkable by Google. Emma has worked for the BBC for a year as Senior Product Manager, following roles at Dell Technologies and Sky in various Product Manager and Owner positions, and Nouveau Lashes as Head of Digital.

 

This event in in collaboration with #WECAN (Women Empowered through Coaching and Networking), a project run by Leeds Beckett University which aims to enhance the resilience and growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by building the leadership skills, capabilities and opportunities of women in the Leeds City Region.

There will also be a short talk and opportunity to donate to Get Away Girls, a charity who works with young girls to empower and support each other to build confidence, resilience, raise aspirations, develop new skills and take risks in a positive environment which offers co-operation and support.

The event will be held at The Terrace, Wellington Place from 11am – 2pm, with delicious lunch and refreshments provided.
