Creatives Across Sector

Organised by Music Leeds

Addressing the national struggle to recruit, and the regional issues around talent retention, this event will open the door to new opportunities for employers!

There are over 500 new music graduates each year in Leeds, and quite often their talents are not fully exploited in the broader employment sectors across the city.

Taking place at Leeds City Museum, this event will discuss the benefits of a diverse work force, specifically through the lens of what Leeds Conservatoire trained creatives can offer employers of all types, not just those in the creative sector. It will myth bust misconceptions, demonstrate the values of specialist education, and open the floor to employers to support innovative thinking around recruitment processes and broadening talent pools.

Our keynotes will showcase some of our incredible students and graduates in an interactive performance (from a 15 piece band) with panels sharing and discussing some of the key attributes that could support your business in developing and recruiting talent.

Our panel (chaired by Rima Ahmed) including employers currently working with trained music graduates will share discussion with all delegates, and workshops in the afternoon will allow for more intimate settings to discuss current issues and potential solutions… all utilising creative skill sets and methods.

Key notes, panelists and speakers will include:

  • Tom Riordan – Chief Executive Leeds City Council
  • Martin Dickson – Leeds BID
  • Patsy Gilbert – Vice Principal of Leeds Conservatoire
  • Jez Willis – Utah Saints
  • … plus many more to be announced!

We really encourage senior management, and those with recruiting responsibility to attend this event.

Delegates will leave with a greater understanding of the talents and transferable skills of music graduates and how Leeds Conservatoire graduates can be an asset to businesses moving forward.

There are optional break out sessions to attend in the afternoon, focusing on the sharing of ideas, student consultancy and much more.

Refreshments will be provided on arrival, and lunch will be served to all delegates at 12.30pm.

Please Note: There is a limited number of delegate passes available so we advise you sign soon as possible.

Speakers Include:

  • Tom Riordan - Chief Executive Leeds City Council
  • Martin Dickson - Leeds BID
  • Patsy Gilbert - Vice Principal of Leeds Conservatoire
