Championing Accessibility

Organised by A11y North

We’re back at Hippo, and we’ve a great session lined up with another friend of A11y North – Charlie Turrell – talking all about accessibility champions networks.

Lots of organisations want to improve the accessibility of their products and services, but many struggle to make it stick beyond a few passionate individuals. Accessibility Champions Networks are one of the most effective ways to turn good intentions into everyday practice.

In this session, Charlie will unpack:

  • What champions networks are,
  • What they are not,
  • Why they benefit organisations in the short and long term
  • The lessons learned from building and supporting networks at the BBC, through the global Champions of Accessibility Network (CAN), and at the Ministry of Justice.

Hopefully you should leave with some practical ideas you can apply whether you’re starting from scratch or trying to take a network from enthusiastic to truly influential.

Agenda:

  • 6:30 – Welcome
  • 6:45 – Championing Accessibility
  • 7:30 – Pizza break
  • 7:45 – Fireside Chat / Q&A
  • 8:30 – Close and drinks
This event is aimed at: Anyone interested in leading accessibility within your organisation, and driving change.
