Scrum is a core of applied Agile, first introduced in 1990. It promises much in terms of delivery of good software with transparency, inspection, and adaptation — twice the work in half the time. Failure to meet those goals is generally laid down at the feet of “you’re doing it wrong”, sometimes even with good reasons. However, is scrum actually good at helping teams deliver good software? What are the bad and ugly things lurking under the shadow of scrum’s promises? It is important to explore these criticisms to understand where Scrum might fall short and how it can be improved.
