From transforming healthcare to developing autonomous systems for cars to navigate roads without human intervention, the possibilities and capabilities of AI seem endless – but that doesn’t mean it always gets it right. Here are some of the most bizarre mishaps AI has had…

How can AI improve how we capture football? Here’s what happened when Inverness Caledonian Thistle (ICT) swapped their camera operator with an AI-operated camera in a match against Ayr United…
The plan: To use AI-operated ball-tracking cameras to automatically follow the ball during a livestream of a football game in Scotland.
The outcome: The AI-operated cameras constantly mistook the linesman’s bald head for the football, missing most of the goals.
With stadiums not allowing fans during the Covid-19 pandemic, fans’ only means of watching would have been via a livestream or on TV. Maybe next time, providing the linesman with a hat or even a wig would prevent any unfortunate mishaps?

If you’ve got an Amazon Alexa enabled device, it’s all too easy to order whatever you want, whenever you want. It doesn’t matter what age you are – all you need to say is “Alexa, order me x” and it’ll show up at your door.
A six-year-old girl from Dallas, Texas, managed to order herself a doll house and a tin of cookies. It doesn’t stop there though, as when reporting on this incident on a US TV station, a presenter said “I love the little girl saying ‘Alexa order me a doll house’.” This command was interpreted by viewers’ Alexa devices and ordered people across the US their very own doll houses to play with (a shame they didn’t add the cookies too)!
