Yasmin De Nardo, Head of Connected Tech Academy at KPMG, talks about her recruitment journey, the importance of diversity and common misconceptions when it comes to a career in tech.

Welcome back to our Spotlight Series, where we shine a light on the brightest minds in Leeds. This week, we sat down with Yasmin De Nardo, Head of Connected Tech Academy at KPMG

KPMG is one of the ‘big 4’ accountancy firms – a global network of professional firms providing audit, tax, and advisory services.

Before becoming Head of Connected Tech Academy and being responsible for KPMG’s early talent community, Yasmin studied English at the University of Leeds and fell into a career in recruiting. Since then, she’s excelled in her career!

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • The career journey Yasmin has been on, and what led her to pursuing a career specifically in the tech industry
  • KidsCode, an initiative run throughout Leeds Digital Festival
  • The social initiative encouraging people from diverse backgrounds into technology, WILD Digital

“I think the most common misconception is that people think that tech isn’t for them.  So, I see myself as a woman in tech because I work within a tech business and I recruit for tech roles. I can’t code, I absolutely can’t code, but I think it’s the positioning of these roles – there is a role in tech for everybody.”
