A fundraiser developed by a team who have a love for music and soul!
It’s no secret the cost of living is on the rise; families are currently facing a stark choice between renewing a broadband contract and putting food on the table. Food banks have never been more reliant on, and there has been mental health and wellness.
Currently, 24% of people in Leeds live in poverty, 35% of children in Leeds live in poverty, and 21% of low-income households in the UK have gone without heating and eating properly.
These growing rates of poverty are unconscionable. It’s time to come together collectively, change this narrative, and help our local community!
Over their passion for music, soul and giving back to others, Cleveland Henry (Chair of LCF), Martyn Long (Leeds City Council), Matt Ward (Xdesign), Rachel Mcelroy (Axiologik), and Rae Evans (Axiologik) have come together to devise a sociable concept that brings together the digital and innovation champions in our city, Leeds whilst raising funds for Leeds Community Foundation.
The Leeds Community Foundation, a Leeds Digital Festival partner sponsor, is the region’s largest independent funder, distributing vital grants and gives trusted advice to Community Organisations across Leeds and Bradford to influence positive change.
The Foundation generates philanthropic giving and leverages statutory funding to deliver grants that address specific challenges. This opens up vulnerable and often marginalised communities to many opportunities, including skills, education, health, culture, and employment.
With Chair of Leeds Community Foundation, Cleveland Henry being one of the artists on the decks and one of the brains behind the social event, commented;
“LCFDIJTAL will be a highlight of our summer calendars; this event is an opportunity to connect, catch up with some familiar faces and shine a light on this incredible cause. I look forward to being on the decks and contributing to an incredible charity that I have seen first-hand change people’s lives.”
Martyn Long, Head of Employment and Skills at Leeds City Council, is sharing the evening decks with Cleveland. With his passion for Ibiza tunes and classic hits, Martyn knew this would be an opportunity to help a charity he also feels strongly about, in a fun and engaging way. Here’s what he had to say about the upcoming fundraiser;
“We’ve had this idea for quite some time now, and it’s finally been brought to life. It’s a tough time right now for many; the money raised will make a huge difference to the local people. We have such a thriving digital community that love to come together; why not do that over some great music whilst helping our community.”
With two Leeds consultancies Axiologik and Xdesign getting behind the event with sponsorship, this summer extravaganza is not one to missed. It will be hosted at local hotspot The Backroom Leeds on the 19th of September from 8pm onwards.
Join us as we shine a light on music while raising a glass for a fantastic cause that makes a real social impact on our city.
